[ . The hovering mirror shows Robbie, in his hodgepodge of clothing and mess of hair. How to keep one’s crown smooth to achieve that perfect summer ponytail is one issue of Seventeen that he definitely missed.

He looks like hour 28 of a shipwreck, tired and unable to sleep but desperately trying to look awake and healthy so nobody throws him out of the lifeboat to conserve resources. His eyes keeping flicking away to something beyond the network mirror, and he can barely keep his eyes off it.

When he talks, Robbie can barely contain the world-weary eagerness of someone who knows there’s no Nigerian prince, but god damn it would be the solution to all his problems if it were true. Mostly because he’s pissed at himself for asking what’s obviously a stupid question. This is like the mirrors that show the Elves true forms: magic.
]

What do you see in the mirror?

[ He spins the hovering magic mirror. The mirror is showing … a mirrored surface, possibly catching the light a little. It’s not reflecting back a hovering communications mirror, though. That’s the first sign that something's wrong.

Robbie’s reflection … isn’t his. The young man is very like him, with the same bright blue eyes and shaggy, albeit shorter, blonde hair. He’s healthy, clean, and kitted out in a pair of crisp, dark blue jeans and a Yale t-shirt. With a cheery, charming smile, he looks like he’s never wanted a day in his life.

He’s in a schoolyard, and there are kids running around playing games. The school looms behind them, with the name set in the stone above the main entrance: Stamford Elementary.

The banner hanging below it announced a town hall with Governor Justin Baldwin. The governor might be the best suit on the stairs, shaking hand after hand, as does his lovely companion. They're in their fifties, but could pass for 40.

After a moment, the mirror Robbie turns and runs over to join them, kicking a ball back to the kids on the way. The suit claps him heartily on his shoulder, and there’s a burst of energy bubbles and light. Mirror Robbie is now in a superhero uniform, and everyone looks to be laughing good-naturedly. The governor is beaming proudly.
]

It’s just me, right?

[ OOC note: the mods have said that the others will see what Robbie sees, because they aren't in front of the Mirror of Erised and magic. ]

[When you have to plan ahead, you need to information. Ange knows she'd like to be told about dangers and stuff when there was still time to prepare, so she decides to share what she found out, in case someone wants to make sure they're in top shape to face danger, or to prepare spells, or anything else they want to do.

Ange places the mirror against a pile of books in the library and once she practiced a bit how to talk quietly and carefully so she doesn't disturb everyone, she clears her throat and starts talking]

So I took the time to find out what kind of danger we're going to stumble into once we're out of here. It'll be a while before we have to leave, but I thought some of would be interested, in case you want to make preparations. Take a look at this map.

[She shows it, remembering everything Tiffany had said]

Unless one of us can make a snow plower appear out of thin air, the mountain pass may not be an option. It's blocked with snow. I'm not saying it would be impossible, but it'd be bothersome, that much is guaranteed.

[Ange examines the map. Mine pass, mine pass, where's the mine pass...dang, she can't find the mines, oh well]

There are some mines somewhere under the mountains. It's filled with murderous orcs, and frankly getting eaten isn't one of my goals in life, so...it'd be unadvisable to go in there. That means the odds we'll have to go in there are not low. [Hero journeys always involve peril, Ange thinks. Whether she's right or not is something that remains to be seen]

Finally, there's a fire demon...somewhere. Can't say exactly where it is, I'm not aware of that detail.

[Ange puts down the map]

I'm researching a bit on useful spells, so if you have magic you think could be useful, please come to me. This weaving spells trick can come rather useful, but that'll require some cooperation from two of you.

That's all.

Alright, we seem to have managed to get away. Not unscathed, though. Which is why I'm starting this conversation in the first place. Medicine and botany are skills I never really managed to pick up. It's a skill we really need, considering the injuries and whatever those dark swordsmen did to cause some of us to fall unconscious.

If anybody can help with that, right now is the time to speak up.

Okay, so those bird dudes weren't lying about the different paths. I found the crossroads they're talking about.

[Kon really shouldn't be tromping around alone like this so much but he's used to being nigh on invincible. It's going to take a while for him to get used to the idea that he's not.]

[The road was all overgrown but there is a road through the woods - and it leads here, to a place where the line of the forest breaks into wide fields of golden grasses. Kon sets up his mirror to expand to its largest side and leaves it to float. There's a crossroads here with a battered wooden sign. The wood is so faded and weathered that words can no longer be read on it.]

[The path splits off into three paths. Down the left-most path, the unlabeled path leads down a dark and dreary road towards some hills. One hill can be seen all the way in the distance, standing out above the others. Rising a thousand feet above the rest of the land around it, it's covered in battered ruins that offer at least some shelter from the elements and cover from potential enemies.]

[Down the center path, the path clearly leads to a sinister-looking wild forest, a dark and dreary wood that seems filled with endless shadows. The path disappears into the woods and the tangled branches make it impossible to see into the forest's depths, especially at this distance.]

[Down the right-most path, there's candy. No joke. Dirt and normal plants start to give way to cobblestones made of hard candy and sugar-spun delicate trees. Gummdrops line the side of the road. The other two paths are grim, with even the hilly path dim from cloudy skies, but this path seems to have clear skies and constant sun.]

[Kon stands in front of the mirror, so that the paths are behind him.]

So our choices are: the Land of the Hill Trolls, Mirkwood, and Candyland.

[He narrows his eyes.]

I don't trust Candyland. [He gestures vaguely at it.] The other two roads have the good graces to be creepy from the get-go, but that looks deceptively nice. It's trying way too hard to be cheerful and sunshine-ey.
