[It's hard to ignore a voice coming from seemingly nowhere. Sirius finds the source immediately. He holds it up.

A more considerate man might consider the effects of a young girl suddenly seeing a man in her mirror, especially one as malnourished and sickly looking as he is. Sirius is not a very thoughtful person.]

So that's what this is. A two-way mirror.
